ADMINISTRATION

The Administration Department performs accounting and human resources functions for the station. The department coordinates all administrative record keeping and report filing between PBS Utah and the rest of the University. It prepares reports on PBS Utah's finances and human resources, which are periodically provided to the University of Utah, the Federal Communications Commission, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Public Broadcasting Service, and other federal, state, and local agencies. The accounting and human resources staff perform the same functions for the Utah Education Network.

BROADCASTING

The Broadcasting Department includes both the Production and Programming departments. The Production Department produces local shows for distribution throughout PBS Utah's viewing area, and many are shown nationally on PBS. It produces a weekly public affairs program, Civic Dialogue, several documentaries, cultural shows, and "specials" each year. The Programming Department determines the direction and composition of PBS Utah programming. It coordinates program purchases and scheduling decisions from diverse sources including PBS, other PTV program suppliers, independent distributors, and PBS Utah local productions. These programs are then organized into a broadcast schedule. As part of that process, the department produces daily broadcast logs and other schedules and maintains the tape library. It also conducts research on PBS Utah's audience, programs, and public perceptions of station services. The department cooperates with representatives of education, government, and industry to facilitate the daily educational and instructional programming, marketing, training, and research/ evaluation of these systems.
